Client Spotlight- Trilogy Financial

Let’s be honest—few people grow up dreaming about balancing budgets or figuring out retirement accounts. Between work, family, and just trying to enjoy life, who has time to keep up with all the financial fine print? That’s where a financial planner comes in, and my next Client Spotlight.

Meet Mike Fibiger of Trilogy Financial. Trilogy works hard to take the stress out of the numbers so you can focus on living the life you love. From saving smarter to planning for the future, they're here to make the journey clear, simple, and even a little fun.

Tell us about your business and what led you to this career path.

I started my professional career in healthcare because I always had a passion for helping others improve their life and become a healthier, more fit individual. At the same time I was working with my own financial advisor who saw how I interacted with my patients/clients and encouraged me to consider a career in financial planning. While changing professions from healthcare to finance might seem like a huge jump, it was actually a seamless transition seeing as now I am able to help my clients get more financially fit and have a healthier financial future for themselves and their families. Each client I have the privilege of working with comes to me with a unique story, different challenges they are dealing with, and their own set of goals and priorities they are striving to achieve. Because of this I am able to craft a plan that is unique to them...but it doesn't stop there. Building a deep relationship with each of my clients is paramount. This allows me to both help them navigate the fast changing financial and economic landscape and also point out areas in their planning that might result in setbacks before they even happen.

Who is your target client and what services do you provide?

My firm has a belief that everyone deserves great financial planning and advice. Because of that, we do not have client minimums in order to work with us. Instead, we serve those who are willing to take the time and energy to improve their financial future and are ready to put the work in to do so. My client base is primarily made up of mid to later career families and individuals who are dealing with a lot of moving parts like growing children and aging parents, starting and/or running their own business, and those starting to think about the transition into retirement and what challenges come with that.
In order to best serve every client we work with, I always start with an in depth discovery meeting to really uncover what the areas of concern are and what each client is trying to accomplish. From there I help with an initial comprehensive plan review of what is currently in place. Once we know the directions we are heading I am able to help with investment management through customized portfolio solutions, tax strategies, retirement and distribution solutions, estate and inheritance planning, protection planning for things like life insurance, long term care and disability, and college planning. These are just a few areas that I help my clients with. Like I mentioned earlier, we take a comprehensive approach to each client's plan and make sure to leave no stone unturned for ways to make their financial future even better.

What are some of the biggest challenges you face in your industry?

The primary challenge is getting beyond the hurdle of what most people think of when hearing about a financial advisor..."they are just going to sell me something". As a fiduciary, my primary job is to build meaningful relationships with my clients and help them make the next best decision in the pursuit of accomplishing their goals. This is why I lead with planning and creating a financial roadmap for each of my clients. Only once we have done this can we (together) figure out the best solutions to get there.

What aspect of your job do you find most fulfilling?

Building long lasting relationships with each of my clients! Financial planning is not static...for anyone. Life changes on the daily and being a trusted advisor to all my clients for life's ups and downs is what I am here for.
